Cotton Bedlinen - help choosing the right bedlinen
You have invested in the perfect duvet and your pillows are divine, the bedlinen that you use could make all the difference. Cotton is a wonderful fibre which allows the skin to breathe, absorb moisture and can help to regulate temperature. Not only this but it feels beautifully smooth and soft, can offer a delectable drape and it looks crisp and fresh when on the bed.
Cotton bed linen can be dense and crisp or drape like silk, it all depends on what your preference is. A 400 count fabric which is a genuine weave is a lovely light and silken delight to sleep under where as a 1,000 count will provide a heavier covering which is denser and firmer - a wonderful covering for the winter.
Thread count is how many threads there are per inch, a higher thread count is more tightly woven. Do check when buying cotton bedlinen that it is a genuine thread count as sometimes the yarns are twisted together and then woven and can technically be called a 400 count when there are actually 200 thread it is just that two thin yarns have been twisted to create a thicker yarn.
Egyptian cotton and Pima cotton are renowned for their smoothness and durability, this is because they have a longer length fibre. when twisted together to form a yarn there are less hair follicles sticking out and so it creates a finer yarn which in turn weaves into a beautifully smooth cotton fabric.
We understand that choosing the right cotton duvet cover can be a hard choice and so we are on hand to take your call and help make the right decision.
